Modern Audi and Volkswagen Group engines often run lower oil pressure targets from the factory to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. While this helps efficiency on the manufacturer's test cycles, it can leave critical engine components with less lubrication than ideal — particularly as mileage increases or when the vehicle is tuned.
Low oil pressure at idle is a known characteristic on many Audi 3.0 TDI engines. The factory ECU calibration prioritises economy over protection at low RPM and light load conditions, which is where the most wear occurs over time.
At DC Remapping, we recalibrate the ECU's oil pressure strategy to increase the target idle oil pressure, improving lubrication at low RPM and idle conditions without any mechanical modifications to the engine.
