BMW 6-Series remapping questions

What does Stage 1 tuning do for a BMW 6-Series?

Every BMW 6-Series engine is different, which is why they are listed separately above. At the top end the 640D picks up 80bhp, going 320bhp to 400bhp with torque up to 800Nm.

How much is Stage 1 tuning on a BMW 6-Series?

A BMW 6-Series Stage 1 is from £449 inc VAT; gearbox software is £325–£385 on its own, or £125 less when booked with the engine tune. Finance is 0% over 6 months, or 3 payments with Klarna.

Is the ECU locked on a BMW 6-Series?

Only the later cars. From about June 2020 the factory locks the ECU, so it needs unlocking before tuning, which we handle in-house. Pop your registration in and it will tell you either way. Check if your ECU is locked ›

What supporting mods does a BMW 6-Series need for Stage 2?

It depends on fuel. Diesels need a DPF delete (off-road use only) and an uprated intercooler; petrols need a decat or sports cat downpipe plus an uprated intercooler. Stage 2 cannot be mapped safely on a standard car, so if yours has no supporting hardware we will fit Stage 1 instead.

What happens to my warranty and insurance if I tune my BMW 6-Series?

You will need to tell your insurer, as with any modification, and it can affect a remaining manufacturer warranty. Because we save your original software first, the BMW 6-Series can be put back to standard at any point.

Can the remap be reversed, and how long does it take?

Allow roughly two hours for Stage 1. A locked ECU is unlocked in-house on the same visit without a longer appointment. Everything is reversible: we store your original software so the BMW 6-Series can go back to stock on request.
